Okay folks, as announced yesterday, starting on Monday I’ll be running Foundation Paper Piecing For The Terrified as a build up to the New York Beauty QAL hosted by Sara. Here’s a few things that you will need for Monday:
- Access to a printer
- A few sheets of regular printer paper
- A bunch of fabric scraps from about 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ up to 8 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
- Some pins that you don’t mind sacrificing
- A sewing machine needle that you also don’t mind sacrificing
- A rotary cutter and cutting mat
- A quilting ruler with 1/4″ seam mark on it, or add a quarter ruler
And this is what we’ll be working on first:
I’ve also created a group on Flickr for you to post your progress as you go along, plus, feel free to ask any questions you like in there.
It was fun to see that my rainbow windmill got featured on Sew Happy Geek today too :o) Pop over and check out the other features as well.
Finally, to Donna that commented on Wednesday’s post, sorry, you’re a no-reply blogger, so I couldn’t e-mail you back, but my SHQ fabric is the Firefly fabric from the Gypsy Bandana line by Pillow and Maxfield for Michael Miller, which I think came out early last year, or possibly the year before? I got mine on sale last summer.
I've put this on my To Do list!
I will join in but there will be a slight delay while I go out and play with my best friend. Is that okay?!
Hmmm great. Willing to sacrifice needles and pins? I really feel confident now…………..not! Lol.
Both me and Nicky had been plotting the need for a pp-along, just for the comedy value of the name alone! You beat me to it 🙂 Looking forward to joining in when i've worked off some orders!
HAHA – that's a great name! Have fun with the QAL!
awesome! I will certainly read=a=long with this and bookmark it for a later attempt! I'm not going to have time to tackle this until after April, but paper piecing has been suggested as something I might be able to do, so I shall certainly start here! 🙂
I've had a go at this, but I think i need to learn properly!
Okay, I`m going to be the awkward student (sorry!) but why do you `need` to paper piece this block – why could you not piece it `normally`. Sorry…I am holding a cone shaped hat in my hand and heading to the corner…so I`m ready to go!
