I was a pretty productive week this week, and other than a last minute bee block, was fairly relaxed sewing too! Once I’d conquered the chicken soup, there wasn’t anything else that was *must do* other than my name tag for the FQ Retreat swap (and which I can’t share pics of until it’s received because of the dead giveaway nature of the entire design!), so I put my head down on Saturday and then again on Monday night after work, and got my Retro flowers all made up into a quilt top. On Sunday I wrestled with more templates for the My Precious quilt from hell (I’m sure it’ll grow on me again once the headachey maths is done with!) and then set down after dinner and whipped up a couple of the Zakka Style sewing kits, which were actually done in time for entry into the giveaway this week! Last night, after I’d finished the name tag (which actually only needed batting, backing and binding) I chopped up a bunch of paper templates into cutting templates for My Precious. This week I might actually start cutting the fabric…
Finishes this week:
Piece Bee With You ‘Ill’ block:
2 Zakka Style sewing kits:
In progress this week:
Retro Flowers:
My Precious:
To be worked on this week:
2 quilts for Siblings Together – I got the tops sent to me by Ella for batting/backing/quilting/binding, so this is my first priority. I’m going to go relatively simple with these – I’ve got the perfect backing fabric courtesy of our local Swedish megastore, which I will pair up with some black, to go with the tops. I’m going for an organic grid with rainbow variegated Sulky on top, and white Guttermans on the back (as the majority of the backing fabric is white with black on it).
As there’s a bank holiday on Monday, I’m hoping to finish the Siblings Together quilts over Saturday/Sunday and then get to the Retro Flowers for batting/backing/quilting/binding. For this I want to try out some FMQ in anger – I’m thinking perhaps some stippling in the flower blocks and some circles in the border (I want to practice the circles for My Precious, and this area seems achievable). I probably won’t get this all done, but I’ll be happy if I can just start it!
Linking up to Lee as usual :o)
I can't wait to see what Your Precious is going to look like. You have a lot on right now. But I am sure you will accomplish it all without a problem.
Your retro flowers are lovely! You sound like you have no time when you're not sewing, at work, or sleeping!
What does "FMQ in anger" mean? Are you grouchy (like me) when you're at the quilty part? 😀
are the ikea cottons ok for backings ?? I haven't been there in ages but I did buy some years ago but it was thicker more like home decor weight. there are some yummy fabrics on the site, might need to visit :O)
I am LOVING your Retro Flowers quilt!! Great colors. : )
The retro flowers are looking great. FMQing in anger doesn't sound too promising, hope you find a happy place for you and your machine!
Great stuff x
Love your flower quilt.

Lots of yumminess in this post. I particularly love your retro flowers block.
Do you take your sewing to work? You get so much done every week, plus have time to blog. You amaze me!
I love your retro flowers top and I can't wait to see what your precious quilt looks like!!
