Yay, I can finally take my laptop places in a proper, official bag, rather than an old messenger bag I’d bought that was totally the wrong size and not padded (to be fair, it wasn’t bought to carry laptops!). I just love this line from Michael Miller, and it seemed so appropriate for travelling with! I used ‘The British Are Coming’ as my featured fabrics, with a red Kona solid for the outside (Cardinal) and a grey Klona solid for the lining.
As it was specifically designed as a laptop bag, I’ve left the main body of the bag without any internal pockets, however I did add a divided front pocket to take my Kindle, mini hard drive, cordless mouse and assorted wires along with my card reader for my compact flash cards for my camera. I went with the plainer fabrics from the line for the pockets, and added a layer of padding to them too (btw that plaid print is TOTALLY off grain!)
As there was one more feature fabric in the line, the beach huts, I decided that this was what I needed for the inside flap.
Because of all the electronics, I avoided the magnetic snap type closure, and went for small buckles (like you get on rucksacks) which I put just in from the corners of the flap, and used a 2″ wide adjustable woven strap for wearing cross body or over the shoulder.
I’m so happy this is done now, I feel I can breathe a little more easily!
I love this bag Katy – wonderful ideas with pockets and closures 🙂
Whayhey, another wee beg, even if it's not so wee. Very smart and I'm sure it will do a sterling job. BTW when will you put the other half of the Velcro on my iPad case? It's much admired and I'm sure that will be true of your laptop bag.

great bag katy! woohoom, one more thing off the list!
This is great and seems like it will be very functional for you and your trip. Did you make up the pattern yourself?
Great bag
It's so cool! My laptop bag shall be jealous of yours.
I love the bag! Your lap top will now travel in style.
Lovely bag. And the back looks very American flag too. I had to laugh at all the accessories and wires you have to carry. And there's always one you forget!
I love that bag!!! I have a laptop cover I would use when I commuted to work on the train. One day a man that would sit in my carriage said he could get me a proper leather case if I wanted.. I don't think my cover looks as professional and fabulous as your bag. 🙂
Looks great Katy, love the scooters!
Great bag Katy, you certainly thought of everything with that front pocket! Now, can you carry it without falling over?!
The British are coming! I still worry that SLC isn't ready for you Katy…fab bag!
You'd smack me upside the head really hard if I asked you to make me one, wouldn't you? 😉 It's seriously fab!
I love that bag and the fabric you selected for it! And in less than a week I will get to see it in person. YAY!!
Great bag!!!!!!
I love the fabrics you chose.
Plaids and stripes being printed off-grain make me want to go to the manufacturer and punch them hard. It's THAT annoying 🙂
I love this Katy! Great job. You are so good at creating functional art.
Love your laptop bag K, and not a quickie either I'm sure! Jxo
Do not mislay this bag!!
Wow! That is an amazing bag! And I love the fabric choices…and the little messages that go with them!
