I just realised that I cantered past the 500 post mark the other day, at around the same time I realised that I’d totally missed the fact that Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day was coming up (it started yesterday in fact) I didn’t think I was going to be able to do anything, but then I hit a conundrum tonight about a gift I have to make and I thought you could help me out, in exchange for your own version.
So what is the conundrum I hear you ask? Well I want to make a wall hanging from this pattern that I bought from Kerry’s shop, possibly as long ago as a year ago (oh the shame, sorry Kerry!) Anyway, I’m trying to work out what colour combo to go with. I’m not overly endowed with Christmas fabric (read, I have none) but thankfully it doesn’t have to be Christmassy, in fact I’d rather it got a bit of a longer outing really!

So what do you have to do?
Please give colour specific suggestions for each part, as seen in the photo above.
‘I want to win’ or any variation on that theme won’t work due to the nature of the prize…
What do you win?
Your own version in your chosen colour scheme (or as near as I can humanly, possibly get, please don’t ask for specific Kona colours or set fabric lines!)
When do you have to answer by?
By Friday 7th December 11:59 pm GMT
When will you get it?
I will try and get it in the post before Christmas, and I am happy to ship anywhere in the world.
Okay, that’s it, hit me!
PLEASE NOTE, THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED
Natural background with red and aqua please! Jxo
So I am thinking a shartruesse or lime green background with red & pink scarf. Inspired by this photo… http://www.etsy.com/listing/59851008/christmas-ribbon-candy-self-striping
So not christmas but just colorful enough to be christmasy! right?
I like the orange/blue but other combinations that might be pretty-
maybe purple (solid/stripey/plaid) for the scarf/accents, grey/silver for the mittens/hat and coral for the background.
As an alternative- I like red/silver/grey for a wintery but not christmassy feel, or
navy, light blue, and grey (for scarf/accents, mittens, background).
White background (snow is cold), mittens, scarf edge, and hat – red and the scarf, hat edge & pompom – blue. I got a boy at home so no flowers please. Such a cute idea! Thank you!
how cute!! I'm thinking a neutral background with red or green would be gorgeous… thanks katy for the chance!
I like the idea of a neutral background with aqua and red as the colors in the hat, scarf and mittens
Linen/tan background, dark red and green for the accessories, and dark red for the binding?
White or neutral background for the snow. Then hat and mittens and scarf done in aqua/red and green. With a green or red or even scrappy green, red and aqua binding.
Oh this is fun. Okay – let's think winter (which can be displayed from October through March).
Off white background meaning snow. light blue scarf with darker trim. The hat to match. Mittens, med. grey with same light blue trim as on the scarf.
Wording and cording – a slightly darker grey.
Okay, do I win?
Hugs
That is such a cute pattern. If I could pick the colors I would use a light blue as the background and some darker blues with maybe a plaid pattern for the scarf and mittens.
So are you just trying to get us to do the choosing for your sewing project?!
Hmm I like the orange background and would go for pink scarf and grey trims. It might look horrible but I don't think so!
Thanks for the giveaway – I've just worked out that you'll make it too! Ah ha!
i think pink would look good to go with the plaid and background in white
Hi, this is fun! I'm not also at all red person. White and grey are great colours for all the winter and blue-turquoise. I imagine the background light grey and the knitted mittens, scarf and hat I would make with different white and blue prints. x Teje
I'm thinking a yellowgold background with blue binding and blue hat and mittens with tartan replacing the gingham (in a blue and yellow colourway) mitts, main scarf and hat.
Hmmm…a grey/pale aqua/pale blue background, white hat with a turquoise/teal band and pink pompom, the same for the mittens and a scrappy scarf in shades of turquoise…thank you!
This is hard for me because I find it's hard to get beyond the colors showing! 🙁 This is what I think I'd do:
background – white
hat/mittens/scarf – a small black and white print
accent on the three items – red
wording – black
string on mittens – red
binding – red
I want a texty background and scrappy rainbow binding. Some nice plaid for the scarf and hat I think too. Thankyouverymuch. 😉
Grey and white pindot background with red for the scarf and hat – red could be patterned or plain and the trim maybe black.
Fun! How about:
Thistle sky, silver hat and mittens, deeper purple or blue scarf, goldenrod accents on scarf, mittens, hat?
Loopy text prints for mittens and hat, texture or sketchy prints for the thistle sky, irregular long print for the larger part of the scarf, solids for the accents. Binding could be silver or goldenrod, hard to tell till you would see it!
I'm seeing a white background with the mittens, hat and scarf rose and apple green and the binding deep forest green. This is a really cute pattern.
Now I would like this in a crisp, clear blue for the background with red/brown checks for the mitts, scarf and hat with some strokable cream flannel for the cuffs and brim! The binding I would leave up to you!
Peacock background, maroon mitts, hat and scarf with cream cuffs and brim. Binding in a plaid that ties in with those colours.
This is so fun! On the one hand, I like the new mod Christmas colors – turquoise, fuchsia, bright green, white
(http://www.connectingthreads.com/images/regular/5134.jpg )
and on the other, I like bright purple (variegated or print) on the hat, scarf & mittens and grey or texty for the background and a bright turquoise or fuchsia for the trim.
I would make this with an icy blue or Dresden blue background. COLD- feeling. Then the hat, scarf and mittens would be a chartreuse green with trim in either white or a red/green check.
Do you have snow yet? We are cold and snowless. 🙁
Hugs, Cathy
Text/low volume background, and bright watermelon mittens and hat with lime green trim. Whatever you choose it will look good as you are so god at paper piecing.
Can I just say whatever colour you fancy making on the day? No?
Ok I'd choose one of those textured fabric backgrounds (like, but not specifically, sketch) with aqua and red please
You are completely nuts but since you're offering – I'd go for pink and red scarf and hat, linen/natural background and red binding. Well done on the 500. Juliex
Ah, neat wall hanging! I love gray and yellow together, so I think gray and yellow scarf, hat, and mittens with an aqua background. Or maybe the other way around – gray and aqua items with yellow background.
Hmmm I'm thinking crisp white background with red and aqua… but then I thought that was a bit boring, so I'm sticking with the white background and going for lime green (a tasteful one obviously), teal and a hint of cerise instead.
I want red or lipstick pink or orange mittens, scarf, and hat with texty or grey or whitish trim and the background can be a surprise. The hat, mittens and scarf could all match or they could just go together and be sort of scrappy. Is that sufficiently specific, I would love to win, it would be lovely to have this from you.
Teal/Aqua Background, lime green mittens and cap, pink trim. A striped binding and maybe grey/white words? Or black words would work also.
It's a cute pattern!
Love grey background suggesting dull winter sky and bright clothing to cheer up the winter (perhaps stripes in bright hues).
Touches of red and green for words as only bit of Christmassy fabric (which I generally dislike) – maybe Poinsetta like touch?
Love the hanging whatever.
