I was very lucky to receive my own ‘Only Ditzies Please’ pack of Liberty loveliness this week from Ali at Very Berry Handmade to see what I could do with it.
Whilst I joked with many of you during the giveaway that I thought I’d never be able to afford to make a Liberty quilt, I think packs like these and the mini and maxi charm packs that Ali also sells, are a way of building up a nice range of fabrics without paying the somewhat heart stopping prices of Liberty yardage, so who knows, I might get my Liberty quilt yet…
Now I have an idea of what I could do with not only this pack, but also a charm pack I bought from Ali last year, however I’d love to hear what you would do before I dive in (one would hate to waste it on the wrong idea you see)
I collected lots of Ali's packs of 4"fabrics and have just made a quilt. It was totally worth waiting for. I recommend you do it.
Pillow case because Liberty Tana to sleep on is like having a quilt without the large size price tag.
Ooo gorgeous selection! I just bought my first Liberty from Ali a few days ago and I love it! I want to buy a few of these packs for hexies 🙂
You could make an EPP quilt because they take a long time ( all that basting and hand sewing) but that would spread the cost over a year or two. And the end result would be fabulous. I'm copying this one:http://www.redpepperquilts.com/2013/02/hand-pieced-hexagon-star-quilt.html made by Rita's MIL.
I vote for saving it for a quilt, too! 🙂
Use it now on something you will see everyday! A table runner, cushion or maybe even a lampshade, anything as long as you can stop and admire it every time you pass it 🙂
You lucky lady, just make sure it's a good project :o)
I would apologise to Ali and tell her that you made a horrible mistake, and don't really like Liberty after all, and send the lot to me for safekeeping xxx
Oh so Purdy! Jxo
I would do an HST cushion with them using a navy solid. That's my tuppence worth.
I'm stumped for an idea, but they are lovely
These beautiful fabrics are screaming coin quilt to me…
Lovely Liberty I have some of the same fabrics. I love how they are so fine. I use some of mine for smocking children's frocks.
Hugs
how lovely, i like Annabellas idea, but im with you on not feeling the HST love, could you cope with triangles? or to not waste any, squares with sashing, or add some solids and lil twister? although hexies would maximise feeling the loveliness,. . . im not a lot of help am i?
No idea sorry – although Annabella's is probably a winner ;o)
Such summery, cheerful, yummy fabrics!
I'd start piecing blocks and keep adding more scrap packs until I had enough blocks for a quilt…osmething like Susan's HR blocks would be good, I think.
*something*
Stand back and admire until inspiration hits? Juliex
I'm in the same position! I have some Liberty squares and really want to play with them, but don't want to waste them on the wrong thing. I have decided to hold on to them and collect some more – a Liberty Quilt sounds good!
My Granddaughter was just telling me today how she loves Liberty fabrics. I love yours. Pretty colors!!
