The first of the Aeroplanes for Patchwork In The Peaks is out of the hanger… (I may or may not have abandoned these sorts of references by the time #4 is finished)
For version #1 I made up a Model Aeroplane after seeing the idea at FQR when Pennie was sporting hers:

Borrowed from Pennie’s blog |
After seeing her measurements, hers ended up a bit bigger than mine, which I think goes to show, it all depends how you shrink a pattern how it turns out!
Here’s Jack with mine for a bit of scale:
What do you mean you have no idea what size he is? Well, okay, here it is alongside a rather less cute 12 1/2″ ruler. Mine’s about 8″ x 9″ x 5 1/2″
Inside I used a Sandy Gervais print I got in a sale a couple of years ago. I thought it added a nice pop of colour against the grey.
Up, up and away to the next one then.
Very pretty! X
Love the bright pop of colour inside.
Love it, great choice on the lining too
Fabulous lining!! I bought a half yard bundle of Geekly Chic months ago to make a new handbag. I'm seriously wondering if this is the pattern to go for. So cute when shrunk!
What a success!
Love how it looks like B&W photos until you see the lining – success!
I think Jack makes the bag really pop 🙂
It is so cute, do you think it will hold Jack and all his things on the trip to France?
I love the surprise of colour on the inside of the grey. Jack is such a sweetie.
Gorgeous.. the inside is a wonderful surprise after seeing the outside but both sides look fabulous! You nailed it.
I had to walk away after making 2, because I could totally make more…
I'm a bit smitten with bags at the moment, so I have to say I love your sized down version of the Aeroplane!Love the lining too!
Heh, I like your two scale pictures! I didn't realize it was reduced, at first. Your heart plaid is cute!
Wow, what a surprise inside! I like the toned down outer part, and then you open it and … surprise! Lovely Finish, indeed!
Thank you so much :o)
Well you will be travelling light to Geneva, won't you? Three days worth of belongings in something that size? I know, it's really a Tardis 🙂

Lovin that bright lining! Jxo
mine came out a different size to Pennie's too. It's weird!
It works really well like that….please stop tempting me to make yet more bags! Juliex
I agree with Hadley…I thopught it was a B&W photo. Very nice bag and lovely pop of color for the lining.
Beautiful handbag!
Inspiring. Like the others, I like how the subtle black and white is camouflaged, and then boooiiiing the lining pops. Love it.
Lovely bag, and love the way the lining lifts the whole thing.
Very cute and love the pop of color in the inside
