If it’s time for Quilt Market, it must be time for the Bloggers’ Quilt Festival, where those of us mere mortals who are unable to walk those hallowed halls, congregate to ooh and ahhh over each others’ masterpieces.

For my entry this time, I had to go for the Best Group Or Bee Quilt category to celebrate my favourite quilt of the year, my Brit Bee Retro Flowers (apologies to regular readers for its reappearance!):

The fabulous ladies of Brit Bee made me the aqua and grey blocks, while the lovely Cindy made me an orange one, and I made the rest, including the Di inspired reverse block, to give me a nice 5 x 6 layout.  I’m rather ashamed that it took me about 9 months to actually assemble it, and add the borders, but I timed it nicely to hand over to the amazing Trudi at one of our Brit Bee get togethers so that she could perform her quilting magic on it in time to hand it back at FQR (whereupon it promptly got bound and went on its holidays to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for a month!).

There are gorgeous feathers swirling around the borders, a feather in each petal, and a swirly shape between each petal junction (for want of a better description)

Final Stats:

Fabric: Selection of fabric from a large number of lines + Michael Miller (binding) + Moda extra-wide (backing)
Thread: Quilted using Aurifil 50wt on top, and Superior Bottom Line on the back
Batting: Hobbs 80/20
Size: 84″ x 72″
Piecing: Brit Bee + Cindy
Quilting: Free motioned feathers and swirls
Quilted by: Trudi Wood
Pattern: Retro Flowers by Christina Lane

I so totally and absolutely adore this, and I do hope that all of you reading will agree with me and vote for it as your favourite Group/Bee Quilt.  Even if you don’t, I’ll still love it :o)

Don’t forget to check out all the other entries in the Festival, there’s quite the selection of categories to wander though!
