From one side of the Atlantic to the other, this week our highlighted Finish Along sponsor is Tikki London.

Funnily enough I won the FAL 2013 Q4 prize for Tikki last week on Leanne’s blog (Mr RNG obviously thought he’d make up for a year of guaranteed no prizes ;o) ), and I’ve spent it already!

Back in 2012 at the first Fat Quarterly Retreat in London, the lovely ladies at Tikki opened their doors on the Friday evening for all the attendees, and even provided drinks and nibbles!  Although it’s quite a small shop, it obviously has Tardis like qualities because I swear there were about 30 of us crammed in there snatching up fabric all at the same time!  The drink probably helped… ;o)

Having visited there, I knew exactly what I wanted to spend my winning vouchers on – their fabulous linen like fabrics that are perfect for bag making.  Here’s what I picked up:

I really fancied the other 2 too, but I was feeling (marginally) restrained:

As well as their cool home dec weight fabric, they have a wide range of quilting cottons, from Tilda to Michael Miller, Riley Blake to Lecien, and many others, and they also have Essex Linen and Moda Bella solids if you’re after something less patterned.

Should finding a whole range of fabrics to make up a pattern be something you find challenging, they have a number of quilt kits, including a starter pack that they advertise as suitable for 6 years to 101+ :oD

On the non fabric front, you can find wool felt, interfacing, threads and yarns, plus a wide selection of haberdashery.

If you ever find yourself in London, I really recommend that you fit in a visit – 1 tip though, when you come out of the tube station turn left.  It may look like a brick wall, but it’s a bit platform 9 3/4 like, and you need to go that way.  Trust those of us that hiked about a mile in the wrong direction first ;o)
