A wee while back, the lovely Annie at The Village Haberdashery put a call out for tutorials done with some of the new fabric lines she’d just received. My eyes lit up when I saw all the shiny chevrons, and I jumped at the opportunity, so a short while later these dropped through the letter box.

I dug into my newly acquired metallic leather stash, and added it into the mix, and yesterday the tutorial went up on the blog to make this gold accented clutch, perfect for a night out on the tiles (maybe you can ask Annie where she got the matching shoes!)
So how would you like the chance to win the makings of one of these clutches, including the leather?
Here’s what you need to do. Choose one or all of the below, one entry for each:
- Head over to The Village Haberdashery and sign up for the newsletter, so that you can get a heads up on when these tutorials appear on the blog, along with all the gorgeous new fabrics and yarns that arrive in the shop. Leave me a comment to say you did.
- Have a mooch around the shop and let me know what fabrics you would choose to make your own evening clutch.
- And finally, tell me where you’d take this clutch for a night out, I think it needs to live vicariously through these comments ;o)
Without a shadow of a doubt, I would take this sexy little clutch bag up to London town for a night in Ronnie Scotts with some amazing tunes and a bucket of cocktails. Followed by a precarious ride on a bike rickshaw back to the train station. 😉
I lurve the Palos Verdes Wayfarer fabric in the peach colour – would be super as a clutch and really sweet for Spring.
I have subscribed to receive the newsletter 🙂 Woohoo!
I'm a bit dot obsessed so I would go with Scenic Route – Dot in Grey. That would make a pretty clutch for sure 🙂
I'm feeling so old and boring since I don't go out at all these days. I could only take it to some coffee meeting with my friends, lol.
Haha I was so convinced they must be your shoes 😉
I'm already signed up to the newsletter (even though I'm fasting!)
I'm choosing mirror ball dot in twilight or maybe starlight
I'll need a clutch for the wedding next month (I'll need a dress too and shoes) and the fancy evening do in an old water pump station (sounds grim but looks stunning on the website!)
Ooh love your clutch!! The gold corners are extra fabulous!! Awesome giveaway but I won't enter because I just know I'd never get around to making a clutch for myself.
how fun and ready for summer! i'd take this clutch out for my birthday weekend with friends.
Lovely!
i'd use Sun Print X and Plus in Indigo with Koi Smile and Wave in Rose. thanks!
Gorgeous clutch Katy …if it came to me the only place it would be going is work! I seriously need to get a life !
I already get their newsletter, hope that counts!
I would take this little clutch on holiday to the Caribbean, I can see it fitting in nicely in a beach bar in Mexico… Of course, it will probably be ten years or so until I get there!
Eeee – gorgeous!!!! I am a Village Haberdashery newsletter receiver 🙂
Oh I think I would take my pouch to The Ivy in London – a famous restaurant where I am hoping I will go to for lunch my 40th birthday this year…
There are so many that I would love to drool on but I think I would get some Dowry or Up Up and Away. Yum.
I get Annie's newsletter!
I'd take the clutch to my nephew's wedding in June!
I love Alison Glass' Sun Print line – X and plus in pumpkin and Text in pumpkin!
This is a hard choice just taking one. Think I would go for Mirror Ball Dot – Silver for the outside and a text print or grey for the inside.
Night out? What is that? The only chance I might have soon is on my trip to London with a friend… if we are not to tired from shopping like mad
LOVE the bag!! I already get the newsletter 🙂
I'm thinking some Koi and Domino Dots but I do love those Chevrons!
Obviously I'm out raving every night… urm is it cool to hang out on the sofa with my clutch bag?!
haha, Lucy…Yeah, I don't know where I would take it either. but I LOVE it!! I have a feeling my daughter-in-law would grab it because they get out more than we do…
Nice bag! I would take mine on our trip next month on the Silk Route train from Ashgabhat to Almaty, is that exotic enough?
I already receive the VH newsletter too!
I am loving the new Mormor line so would definitely go for that
I'm already signed up for the newletter.
I'd like to make the bag with Annali Leaves in Multi and lined with Annali Twiggy in Rust.
I'd like to take the bag on a Patchwork and Quilting cruise, but it is more likely to have to make do with a trip on the Mersey Ferries.
I get the newsletter! Also do I still owe you some leather? oops
Furthest I'd probably get with this is the local carvery lol
I'd make the bag in Botanics inside and out, Fern foliage inside and charcoal branches outside.
I'm already signed up to the newsletter. I was actually optimistic when I read the bit in the tute yesterday about how pig skin was thin – I thought maybe sewing leather wouldn't be as scary as I thought.
I receive the newsletter!
Perfect bag! I think your fabric choices would be my favourite, although I do love the chevrons in ebony too!
As I already bought some mirror dots from VH I'd go for: remix-large-zig-zag-stripe-in-indigo-metallic for the external and inside I'd go for: http://www.thevillagehaberdashery.co.uk/sewing-patchwork/fabric/wee-wander-nature-walk-in-twilight
As for where it would go – I'd make Chief take me away for a weekend just so I could use it at dinner 🙂
The furthest I get is the local with some school mums…… and I wouldn't want to waste a clutch like that there. So, I would save it for my holiday!
Love the clutch! I receive Annie's newsletter!
I'm not really one for clutch bags (and I don't really go out on an evening!) so I'd use mine as a circular knitting needle pouch/knitting project pouch. I'd take him to Whitby on a lovely spring day, have an ice cream and a walk on the pier and then go up to the Abbey and sit on one of the benches and knit while I chat to my new friend 'Mr Fancy Pants Pouch'. As the Abbey has 199 steps up to it we'd also get to sit on each and every bench that's on the way up so we'd get to admire the view while I catch my breath/stop my legs from trying to collapse under me. (I could always get Archie to pull me up most of them!) It's not exactly a night out (and probably not what you were expecting!) but it's the best I can do! Alternatively, we could have a picnic in my garden, once it's finished! Or maybe both?!!
I'd use Wee Wander tree lights in rose for the lining and Wee Wander wander woods in turquoise for the outer fabric. It's taken me quite a while to decide so if you ask me tomorrow I will probably have a different answer! Thanks for the giveaway!
am joining up for the news letter now
I love the little foxes fabric and would combine it with the orange scribbles. I love orange nearly as much as purple.
I am going to see the beloved Suggs (from Madness) on a biographical/talking/singing tour in May. I would use the clutch bag then, easy to carry and not to heavy,
I signed up for the newsletter jennylarking at gmail dot com
I am going up to London for afternoon tea for a special birthday, in the summer and would use it then. Jennylarking at gmail dot com
For the lining Palos Verde La Vente (I have been wanting this fabric for ages)
I love Koi Voile the way of flowers but it might be too light for the exterior so I would choose
Meadow Geos in deep marina. That is stunning. jennylarking at gmail dot com
