For those of you that don’t follow me on IG, I owe you a bit of an explanation. Last Friday I had a bit of a breakdown at work, and on Monday, after a meeting with HR, from which I went to the doctors, I got signed off with stress and high blood pressure for at least the next 3 weeks. I apologise for absences both here and elsewhere of late, but I’m afraid my mental capacity was just not up to it. Over the new few weeks there will be some changes I hope, but it may take a wee while to get things in some semblance of order, so please bear with me a while yet.
In the meantime, I continued with the Reunion quilt sewing, and a whole other project entirely…
So I got this done. Yep, I know it’s not sewing, but I just needed a bit of mindless escape. I now feel an urge to make the Mini. Or perhaps raid mum and dad’s loft for all my old Lego…
Half a quilt top done. The other blocks are sewn, just need to be put into their rows and sewn together. It needs to be finished, including quilting, but next Tuesday, any suggestions?
The Reunion quilt
Sorting out my mind
Wishing you lots of relaxation. Choose something simple for the quilt…loops? Ahem, there's a reason why getting my mind in order isn't ever on my FAL list. It would take WAY longer than a quarter.
Take your time and get well! xx
Oh goodness, I am sorry. I hope work is receptive to making some changes to help you out. Feel better!
The perfect way to chillax…Lego! Your Kombi is looking very cool . Just add a surfboard on top and it wouldn’t look out of place down under.
I for one think you totally deserve some time off . I know how hard you work. Sending virtual hugs your way.
I’d go for something simple with your quilting. Cross hatched lines diagonally across that quilt would look great!
Hope you are feeling better Katy! The Lego Kombi van is amazing – I enjoyed watching your progress making it on IG yesterday. I love the quilt too – great design!
I am so sorry you are not well. You need to slow down your pace and relax. I hope you can do this in the coming weeks. No one is indispensable so don't do the work of 20 people at work, and enjoy your weekends.
Sending warm Hugs Kay
The lego is stunning, the mental health situation much less so! But you are doing something about it and that is brilliant. No idea on the quilting but enjoy it! xx
Rest up, Katy and take care of yourself….you're the only one you've got. I am a big fan of lying on the couch with a magazine for hours (mid-read nap is optional) as my ultimate relaxation. I hope you find what works best for you and make time to do lots of it. Sending love! x x x x
Take good care of yourself, Katy! Your health comes first above all else!
Keep it simple. Straight diagonal lines.
Just say the word and several boxes of Technical Lego are yours! You made the right first step, by doing something about it. A couple of weeks freewheeling will do you good.
Love,
Dad
Hi Katy , hope you are keeping ok x
PS, Mini's on its way 🙂

I see you dad has you covered with new lego projects. Lego is fantastic for all stress related issues, unless of course you are not a good lego builder. I sure hope you feel better soon.
Trust you to have a Lego VW!!! Nice one! I hope you're okay, a 3week break sounds like a good idea.
Love your honesty. We all need down time from life sometimes. That Lego van is adorable! I wonder if my grown sons would like one in their stockings for Christmas?
Hope you manage to relax and get yourself to a better place.
Sorry to hear that life is getting on top of you hope you can get your "joie de vivre" back soon. Lego looks like the perfect activity for you , looking forward to seeing the mini next!
Oh dear, hope you're getting yourself sorted, did anyone at work consider that all the extra hours they make you do may have contributed?
Sounds like some relaxation is in order. The Kombi looks like the ticket! Love the quilt, esp the way the pattern comes forward and back depending where you look! Hang in there!
Look at that tiny steering wheel! I had no idea but to be honest it sounds like you've been overworked for quite a long time and you really need that 3 week break. Rest up.
Hi Katy, somehow I missed out on picking up your ig messages – but it sounds like you've done exactly the best thing. Everyone hits a wall at some point and you're so much better to stop now and take care of yourself, before things get any worse. Just make sure you don't go back until you feel fully ready. Will be thinking of you. Take care and enjoy that lego! Juliex
As my grandson's official Lego piece finder, bravo to you!! Nice finish!! Keep stitching — it always calms me when I'm dealing with stress or depression!!
Great that you got this camper van! I just showed it my son and his comment was " you want one?". that is so cool
Gracious! Take care of you! I have no suggestions for quilting–because I'm not good at figuring that out!–but it's looking beautiful! The little Lego van is a trip.
Ack chica! Consider yourself hugged and thank goodness you went to see the doc….I believe the doc's prescriptions should definitely be "more Legos!"!!!:) Good daddy sending them your way!
Yes…a simple diagonal in both directions would be perfect for that quilt….love it by the way….now go read a trashy novel!!:)
ps…wouldn't it be awesome to have a real van like that?:)
Your dad is a legend! it can be hard to count your blessings when you feel the way you do, but it seems like you have a lot of support so try to bear that in mind. You are not alone in the way that you're feeling, if you want to talk about it with someone who understands 100%, drop me an email, support from a stranger can help too x
Get lots of rest! Your quilt top looks great. After the mini, make the death star! 😀 That one's super fun!
Was loving seeing the camper van on IG. Focus on the small positive things and ignore the big negatives.mit works but takes practice. Health and family so much more important than any job.
So sorry to hear. It's a difficult diagnosis when you are on the young side. I have zero lifestyle factors and I was in denial for years after I was diagnosed in my 30's. I was smacked into reality in my 40's with several bouts of hypertensive crisis. Take this seriously and don't let that happen to you. Love your Lego Westy. I drive a GTI and I recently sold a Sprinter Westfalia. (Airstream in USA and James Cook in Europe) Merged together they would create a Westy.
Glad you got to a doctor before anything more serious happened. Good luck with your quilt; I agree that diagonal lines would be super and restful to do. Get lots of sleep and exercise and here's a *hug* from Canada.
Feel sorry for you going through a horrible time recently. Good on you for seeking medical help and taking the break you need to get better. I know too well the dangers of stress leading to anxiety and depression. You seem to be very sensible and looking after yourself and I hope you are feeling better soon.
You clearly still have a sense of humor! To be worked on this week….ha! Listen, take good care of yourself, take time to rebalance and do things that make you happy. This adorable camper van is the perfect start!!!
Legos are so great for stress relief! But around here it is a pain in the neck getting them back out of the cat, so I have to go for my old fall back, pie, But, hey, suit yourself 😉
You're a winner, girl!! You just sit back, take a few walks and do what you must, and I will head over and punch those guys right in the eye, for you. Satisfying all around. We aim to please!!!
I agree, straight line grid on the quilt, its a beauty!!
We've got your back!!! xx!
Ps, yer Dad rocks 🙂
Your camper makes me want to buy Anne the regular sized legos, I don't think we could build anything like that with the Duplo ones we have. They are huge.
I love the quilt. So much color and movement. Beautiful!
