I’ve been getting back into the swing of that work thing over the last week, and working out how best to balance my evenings now that I’m getting away at sensible times again! I spent much of the weekend singing in the workshops at Celtic Connections, and flash mobbing people at the end. It’s the 2nd time I’ve done singing flash mobs (the first being the Hallelujah Chorus in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery one Christmas), and they’re great fun, no-one ever expects them but you do get a smile. So I guess what I’m saying is, I sewed nothing in the evenings after work, and got very little done at the weekend ;o) What I did do though, was increase my Cherie blocks, so it wasn’t totally wasted, but dad’s pressie (which got put in time out last week) has got bumped to this coming weekend when I have time to think about it!
Finishes This Week:
Ha!
In Progress This Week:
I’ve added in some more 9” blocks in Cherie – I’ve 5 more 9” ones to go, then a fair number of 6” ones, and I’ve ordered a few more of the fabrics so that I can carry out my background plan as well as finish off the blocks.
To Be Worked On This Week:
Toddle along with Cherie
Dad’s pressie
#Sweatnsew – I have the heart rate monitor, and the scales that told me quite how much of a fat cow I am (it tells me my % of fat too, lovely…), and I have a chart to hang on the wall next to where I’ll be using my bike trainer a couple of times a week to monitor what I’ve done. In between bike training, I’ll be ‘30 Day Shred’-ing (although that will be for rather more than 30 days given how much weight I have to shift!). I’m trying to get out for walks at lunchtime, but with the snow we’ve been getting recently, and the fact that they don’t grit the pavements round our offices, that’s a bit more dubious!
Linking up with Lee and the gang:
Sounds like there's a lot going on behind the scenes – but in a good way, so pleased you're getting away from work on time now. Good luck with it all. Juliex
Your Cherie blocks look fabulous! And your non-sewing life sounds very exciting. 🙂
Ah you may feel you need to shift some weight but you are still the same person – kind, funny and always entertaining. Sounds like the new year is off to a great start. Loving the look of Cherie (shame it reminds me of an ex PM's wife!!)
I love the colors you have chosen for your 'cherie' blocks.
Thank you, the fabric line is actually called Cherie, by Frances Newcombe :o)
Love the little bits of fussy cutting you are doing in your Cherie blocks … I'm avoiding my scales …
Does the blue come with Cherie or did you add it extra? I really like the little pops of it with the greys and pink!
I really need to do something about my weight as well. I just find it hard because I get bored with exercising. At the moment I'm riding my exercise bike while watching a movie, but I only take half an hour of it. I feel like my body can do more but my mind can't. I've tried so many ways to keep my attention but movies seem to be the best to at least me the half hour (I've tried TV shows, playing games – Wii and DS – and reading but I get fed up. Even tried doing EPP LOL!).
I just picked up some Cherie today. Oh my word. So gorgeous! Love your blocks. ..and your finish. Ha!
I'm glad you are toning down what you do. Perhaps instead of saying To Be Worked on this week… Just say what you have achieved then you would not feel so pressured. Even if it is nothing, it is special, because it means you relaxed. Just say'n… I hope you have a great year.
Hugs Kay
Spending more time on non-sewing can make the time we spend sewing that much sweeter. I laughed when I saw your list for finishes 🙂 I'm loving the Cherie blocks, the more you post of the the more I wish I had some in my stash!!
loving cherie and the flashmob sounds like a right good laugh! and for the record auntie katy, we love every pound of you and sweating on purpose is gross….
I love the blocks and am glad to hear you're getting away from work at a sensible time each day! Long may it continue! 30 day shred sounds horrific…can you still move all your limbs?!
P.S. *sings* Sherry, Sherry baby, Sherry, Sherry baby, Sher———-ry ba—by *looks round, realises no one else is singing* Come on, you know you want to join in! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sJCYeG6be8 (I think I may have a slight obsession with Frankie!)
Flash-mobbing sounds like a blast! Cute blocks, of course. I haven't checked in in quite a while–what is this Cherie quilt? Seems like something I should know about, even if they didn't spell it right. ;o) And gads, weight is a bad word right now. Somehow about 15 lbs sneaked on me over the holidays, and now a back-pain issue that has bothered me for years has hit some seriously-miserable high pain levels. I'm even made an appt with the dr–that says a ton right there! I know losing a good 30+ lbs is going to be what I'm told to do first–please, inspire me!!!
I just love those flashes of hot pink that set those stars blocks spinning. Have fun with your 30 day shred, I'll think of you trudging through snow as I go for my sunny morning strolls.
Having been absent for a bit this is the first time I’ve seen Cherie and those blocks are just beautiful.
I might have to join you in the 30 day shred. I jumped on the scales on Wednesday and jumped off so fast in horror , it was almost comical.
Im really struggling eith having started my new job and trying to get to all the stuff Ive usually done before and after work . Hoping to get into more of a routine in a couple of weeks but for now Im just accepting that sewing is going to be reserved for weekends , and my appearances in Blogland , rather infrequent until I sort it all out.
What a blast!! I love the singing and mobbing. I don't suppose you have some vid??? Do share! 🙂
Now you just stop that about shifting the weight! You're splendid! And if you feel you want to be more fit, well, we're right here with ya. Although I have to tell ya that the hubster is rather fond of the, ahem, Parts, that have gotten bigger with more weight, so will be sad to see them go. Silver Linings, Right!! XX!
Keep doing what you're doing because it's all good. Sweat and sew Rock star!
Glad to hear you're being nice to Katy! Hope they carry on being supportive! X
The blocks are looking good.
And every time someone mentions a flash mob I wonder how it got its name. It puts me in mind of a mob of people flashing everyone else 🙂
