It’s been quite a varied week on the sewing front around here, and given that we’ve been in single digit temperatures with lots of wind and rain, I’ve had plenty of time indoors to have a go at it! I’ve been trying out dedicating one task to a certain day to try and avoid both time wasting and guilt tripping over the fact that I often think I should be doing something else instead! Part of this has been allowing myself some time to play in exchange for some time dedicated to ‘other people’ sewing, so I spent Friday and Saturday’s sewing time on getting Part 1 of my My Small World quilt done (except for the main sky panel, still waiting in vain for that square die!). Sunday was Quilt Now day for a good chunk of the day, and when I finished that project, I basted my Cotton + Steel mini ready for quilting, which I then got on with on Monday and Tuesday. So far so good… Although no progress on the grout, but I can live with that for a while ;o)
Finishes This Week:
I turned this lovely lot from Remnant Kings into my Quilt Now Issue 14 project:
In Progress This Week:
When you find yourself googling arrow aerodynamics so that you can work out how to quilt something, it may be time to call in the men in white coats, and yet I think it paid off, as I got the arrow sections of my mini quilted. I’m also working through the other sections one weird chunk of quilting at a time! This is pre-quilting, but the quilting is quite subtle:
This is where I’ve got to on My Small World. I think this quilt may be ‘sunglasses optional’, but I’m having fun with it. The sky will be different shades of Moda Grunge using the mainly white based ones (there’s surprisingly many of them!)
To Be Worked On This Week:
May’s Stitch Tease bee blocks (I was waiting on a Sizzix die in an effort to save time)
My mum’s birthday pressie
Hope you all have a great week! Linking up with Lee and the gang:
I love the fabrics you have to turn into your Quilt Now project – the end result should be stunning!
the quilt now project turned out very well. And I'm discovering new uses for my sissix big shot all the time
all your work is freakin awesome! genuinely loving it all. x
Disney's It's a Small World has a special place on our family. I saw the original at the New York World's Fair myself as a child, it is a favorite attraction of my younger son which we rode it multiple times during a Make A Wish trip over a decade ago and repeat annually with him since, and my older son worked on some of its up grades during his employment at Disneyland. I think you have captured the essence of the quaint village idea and the style of its artist Mary Blair exceptionally well. Do not worry about using sunglasses. Everybody needs some sunshine in their life. Sounds like where you live you can truly enjoy such a project as this. I love it! It is the type of quilt that will give you just a tinge of sadness that the journey is over once you have completed it. Max out your fun with it!
I lo e the c&s mini… Wish I was on your team! (I don't think I am…). And really drooling over your small world panel

Very organised! The arrows look great. I got two coats of varnish on my picture shelves, but now back to work and not even time for sewing today 🙁
The arrow quilt is amazing!
Wow! Love the arrow quilt! And what IS it with the weather? I'm across the ocean and we're cold and wet here too!
I love them both!

Sewing is definitely more important than grouting anyway, definitely.
The arrow quilt looks fab! i have some of that Echo fabric – no idea what it will turn into though!
Love the arrow quilt and I think your small world will be fabulous. Juliex
Is that quilt with the arrows a mini quilt? eek! The geese must be tiny!! I love it's directional ways. You're off to a great start with your small town, no doubt it'll be a big small town soon.
Love the small world piece, fun!
The mini is looking fabulous, aerodynamically amazing too 🙂
I like that you pace yourself and have a plan. All your projects are lovely
That arrow mini is ama-ZING!
I've just started a similar time plan… so far so good, although mine has more to do with getting out and getting exercise without feeling guilty, and making time for finishing projects for family. Pesky family anyway!!
Lovin the mini!! And I can't wait for my issues of Quilt Now to arrive..! XX!
