The finished painting from @ettavee class tonight The finished painting from @ettavee class tonight (in slightly dodgy artificial light because although it's not dark here yet, it's been snowing!). It's meant to evoke spring, but I went a wee bit overboard with the paint pens and it looks a little bit like spring sneezed on it up close 🙈. Jessi's is much better, go and admire her work!

Anyway this is my first finish in forever on the #saturdaynightcraftalong with @charmaboutyou so I'm going to have dinner to celebrate 😁

This week for #justjudecollaborates we've been wor This week for #justjudecollaborates we've been working on @joaverystitch new Bird Applique Bundle 2.

I chose 2 of the 4 birds included in the pack, the Chaffinch and the tiny Goldcrest and popped them onto a pouch. Because I have hands which steadfastly refuse to do things like needle turn applique without then going on strike for the next few weeks (shout-out to my old friends hypermobility syndrome and RSI) I went down the machine applique route, choosing a raw edge applique approach this time.

The pattern handily has lines on the pattern pieces for both raw edge and needle turn/turn through applique, so you just cut out as required.

Since I wasn't up for the embroidery either (see above), I used a combination of cutting extra fabric (like the Chaffinch beak and the Goldcrest's crest) and my machine (like the Goldcrest's black line from his beak) to create a similar effect.

These wee birds are such sweet additions to a project, I can see them nesting in quilts, perched on pouches and migrating to mini quilts all over!

Jo is offering a 15% discount on this Bird Applique Bundle 2 using code JUSTJUDEBIRD15 until the end of March, just pop over to her website to grab your copy!

This has been such a fun challenge, and I hope it's introduced you to new patterns and/or designers 😊
