Quilt Now Issue 49 – Travel Eye Mask & Neck Pillow

Quilt Now Issue 49 – Travel Eye Mask & Neck Pillow

by Katy Cameron | 04.05.2018 | My Makes, Other Makes, Publications, Quilt Now Magazine

I have to admit that my eyes are spinning a bit with the quilt on the cover this month, but isn’t it a cool pattern?  I keep seeing secondary patterns in there too. I continued my travel themed projects this month with an eye mask and neck pillow made from the...

Sew Now Issue 19 – Kids’ Wash Set

by Katy Cameron | 13.04.2018 | Bag Makes, My Makes, Other Makes, Other Publications, Publications

Wow, I was lucky enough to be a cover girl twice this month!  I also ran up a little travel wash set for kids for Sew Now magazine, and a couple of the items made it to the front page: First there’s a fun towel wrap – I made this a cat one, but you could...

Quilt Now Issue 48 – Passport & Travel Document Wallet

by Katy Cameron | 06.04.2018 | My Makes, Other Makes, Publications, Quilt Now Magazine

I’m a cover girl this month!  This was the last month of original editor Katy Jones producing the magazine, 4 year’s worth of publications in which she was nice enough to publish me in all but 4 issues.  She’s been the most flexible editor ever (I...

Quilt Now Issue 47 – Woven Easter Basket

by Katy Cameron | 02.03.2018 | Bag Makes, My Makes, Other Makes, Publications, Quilt Now Magazine

I got to be a cover girl this month!  My Woven Easter Basket is gracing the brightly covered front cover of Issue 47, which is all about embracing the bright: I broke out my Wefty Needle again for this project, along with some measuring tape fabric that I’d had...

Quilt Now Issue 46 – To Do Blackboard

by Katy Cameron | 02.02.2018 | My Makes, Other Makes, Publications, Quilt Now Magazine

It’s that time of the month again when Quilt Now is dropping onto people’s doormats and hitting the shelves in the newsagents and supermarkets.  I have to admit to being a bit thrown about what to do at this time of year, but my co-contributors have nailed...

Quilt Now Issue 45 – Heart Cushion

by Katy Cameron | 12.01.2018 | My Makes, Other Makes, Publications, Quilt Now Magazine

I’m all over the place with dates right now, having only just gone back to work yesterday, but one date that I didn’t forget when I was planning for this issue was Valentine’s Day, and I thought I’d give you a month to get your decorating done!...

Today I shall be quilting all the things. All the Today I shall be quilting all the things. All the cutting and fusing is from the few minutes each day that I got to grab for my #sew365projectlt this week, but since that was in the evening in the dark I stored it all up for one exciting (?) photo today...

My #sew365projectlt is taking a small diversion th My #sew365projectlt is taking a small diversion this week while I fuse all the things for a rather ridiculous pair of batch-makes (because when you're going to all the trouble of making 1 of a thing, why not make 4 or 5? 🤦). By breaking it into small chunks it's making it feel a bit more bearable!

Today's adventures in felt for the #sew365projectl Today's adventures in felt for the #sew365projectlt turned out to be more of a rosebud than a full flower, but that's okay, variety is good!

Today's floral experiment for my #sew365projectlt Today's floral experiment for my #sew365projectlt (while waiting for the PVA to try stiffening the other flower) was the first of my big printed out pattern flowers. I love the size this rose came up, and I can see a bunch more of these in my future. Next pic is for scale against one of my wee 'cherry blossoms'

So for the #sew365projectlt today I tried going ba So for the #sew365projectlt today I tried going back to the problem Sizzix die from the other day. I think the main problem is that the felt's flat, so I need to work out how to curl it like the paper in the image on the die cover.

Has anyone got any experience trying to mould acrylic or polyester felt? I've found suggestions for stiffener made from a PVA glue solution, but I'm not sure whether to apply it, let it dry, then cut and shape it, or to put pieces already cut into the solution, then mould it as it dries - thoughts?
