This last week has been a lot about packing (can you tell I'm excited for my holiday?) but I did get a chance to finish my new laptop bag. Now I have 2 laptops kicking around at home (the work one and my own one) I needed another bag for toting them around, so I rehomed last week's wee dug onto the front of the new one. I had a lovely Saturday with the Killearn ladies for our first (socially distant) get together since March (aside from misbehaving masking tape and rather sore knees), and I'd like to say I'm having a lovely time at the gym now that we're back full time, but, well, it's the gym and I'm not entirely sure you're meant to have a lovely time there (I haven't died yet though, so, bonus!) I'm currently counting down the days until I go on holiday (next Thursday), so if you need anything from the shop, here's your advanced notice that I will not be sending any orders out from 16/09 - 07/10. Gotta love a bank holiday weekend where you can use the extra day to catch up on the time you lost at the start of it sorting out website problems! On the plus side, the site has now moved to a shiny new host, who have a much nicer, and more helpful support team! I also hope that this means better stability going forwards, but if you have issues, do let me know. [ 137 more words ]

Has your bobbin case wandered off? Fallen apart? Generally lost the will to be a bobbin case? Well thankfully, we have a solution. After years of suffering through the aftermath of substandard replica bobbin cases, the Featherweight Shop technicians went to work commissioning a replica that was made to the same standards as the original vintage Featherweight bobbin case. This new bobbin case will work in all 4 models of the Singer Featherweight, the black 221/221k, tan 221J, white 221k and black 222k as well as the Singer 301. [ 147 more words ]

So for those of you huddling on this little set of islands, how are you getting on with Francis? Personally, I wish he would move along, not least because he put paid to the last 2 outdoor gym sessions I was due to have this week, but the good news is that next week we're allowed back in the actual building! Oh mean, what a week! Last Wednesday night my website host did an upgrade overnight and broke the site (apologies to those of you who had problems trying to access the site or were trying to get at last week's WIP Wednesday which got lost in the recovery) I finally got it all back together on Monday, but there will be some disruption this coming weekend for some followup work. Ahhhh, I had a lovely weekend, both in terms of weather and because I got to see my parents and my gran and we got to go out to the fabulous Jupiter Artland, which is in the countryside between Livingston and Edinburgh. It's the first time I've been anywhere other than a shop since the start of lockdown in March, and it was beautiful weather to spend outside wandering around both the woods and the gardens. I think I might need to give up sewing and take up ark-building. To say the rain has been persistent over the last week would be an understatement! Still, it meant I wasn't entirely devastated when my hairdresser called in sick on Saturday and I was postponed for a couple of weeks. It meant I had the chance to take a couple of the masterclasses at Beyond Festival Of Quilts, the first with Wendy Dolan for an embroidered landscape, and the second with Sara Cook for the Jokagbo light catcher.
