Well done to everyone who guessed the lighthouse y Well done to everyone who guessed the lighthouse yesterday!

There's a bit of a story behind this one. 2 weeks ago I had my last day at my old job after 10 1/2 years. Near the end of my first year in the job, after a very stressful couple of months with a demanding client where I was working practically around the clock, I finished that phase of the project and went online to find a last minute holiday to recover. I ended up spending a week in November in the old keeper's cottage in the lighthouse at Ardnamurchan, the most westerly point on the British mainland.

Sadly, you can no longer stay there, but in honour of that week away and my first great escape, I used the voucher from my 10 year long service award and some money my colleagues gave me when I left to purchase this set. This weekend, just before I start my new job, seemed the best time to build it.

The beaches in Mauritius don't enjoy a huge amount The beaches in Mauritius don't enjoy a huge amount of sand in comparison to beaches I'm used to in other parts of the world, and this one at Bain De Boeuf public beach on the north coast was desperately trying to contain the erosion with... sand bags. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Just before I ran away to Taynuilt, I finished the Just before I ran away to Taynuilt, I finished the top of the orange thing. I'm now contemplating how to quilt it. At the moment, I'm leaning towards some matchstick lines in different directions in different sections, but that thought is still percolating.

In the meantime, I'm wrestling my puff quilt through the machine, which is quite hard going

It would be fair to say that today's adventures di It would be fair to say that today's adventures didn't quite go to plan. We were going to go over the Connel Bridge, up Glen Coe and down Glen Orchy to get back to Taynuilt, but the weather was looking a bit grim inland (ie, you couldn't see the tops of the mountains for the clouds)

Instead, we started with a little genealogical research at Ardchattan Parish Church, just across Loch Etive from Taynuilt, where we promptly found no-one (not entirely surprising for agricultural labourers)

We stopped to take a photo of the Connel Bridge blending in very well with the mountains on the Isle of Mull in the background, before heading along to see various sides of Castle Stalker. I had a sit in protest on a bench at the Castle Stalker viewpoint because we didn't get lunch OR cake when we were out! Something about few places doing lunch on Mondays and allergies 😒
