Finish Along Quarter 2 Tutorial Week – Butterfly Spools Blocks With Mrs Flying Blind On A Rocket Cycle

by Katy Cameron | 03.07.2014 | Finish Along 2014, Finish Along Tutorials

Today I’m welcoming fabulous fellow Brit-Bee-er Hadley, AKA Flying Blind On A Rocket Cycle, who is going to show you all about how to make some lovely butterflies.  Now if you can all distract her, I’m popping down to clear all that clutter in the photo...

Hi, I'm Katy Cameron, head of the Thistle Patch here in Glasgow, UK where I design bag and sewing patterns and sell parts for vintage sewing machines, specialising in Singer Featherweights. Welcome to the site.

From a shopping point of view it held little interest for me, but from an architectural point of view it fascinated me!

I did a wee bit of cleaning before I started, swipe to see what came out after putting my puff quilt together (and it's not even quilted yet 😳)
For me, this picture encapsulates cause and effect For me, this picture encapsulates cause and effect for global warming, an Easy Jet flight taking off from Geneva Airport on a very warm, sunny, early February day as it flies over the OMM/WMO building (the World Meteorological Organisation) At the start of 2020 there hadn't been anywhere near the usual snow levels in the area, which was clear both as you flew in/out, as well as talking to the locals. Whilst the pandemic that arrived very shortly after this severely curtailed world and even local travel, I'm sure the planet heaved a huge sigh of relief.

This was my view at this time yesterday when I bro This was my view at this time yesterday when I broke down at the M74/M77 merge (big thanks to the fully loaded car transporter lorry who drove a foot from my back bumper while leaning on the horn as I discovered I couldn't get above 28 mph, really, it was a big help 🙄) As there's no hard shoulder at the point I discovered this, I limped the mile or so to this first bit of hard shoulder on at the start of the elevated section of the M74.

Huge thanks to the RAC who left me standing there for over 3 hours waiting for a tow truck in 60+ mph winds at a point higher than the Kingston Bridge (below and behind me on the M8) with live lane traffic right next to me and a 50+ ft drop behind the concrete wall I had to stand next to. I only phoned you 3 times saying just how terrified I was after 3 lorries nearly took me out (let's not go into the subsequent lorries and of course all the vans and cars playing junction chicken over the chevrons and hard shoulder just behind me). The absolute disinterest of your last call handler was evident.

Big thanks also to the highways guys that came up minutes after I broke down, stuck 3 cones behind me, and buggered off again and to the numerous police Scotland vehicles that drove by without batting an eyelid, really, it was so appreciated, especially when I found out from the guy who eventually turned up to get me that there had been a 3 car accident exactly where I was standing only the day before.

Genuine thanks to the 911 Rescue driver who let me thaw out in his lorry, dropped the car at the garage and took me home, I hope you enjoy your retirement from Friday!
