Finish Along Quarter 3 Tutorial Week – How To Link Up To A Linky Party

Hi, and welcome to tutorial week for Quarter 3 of the Finish Along. For this first tutorial I thought I’d address a little challenge that people seem to have each quarter, namely how to link up to the finishes party, so here’s a few tips to help you along:

Steps to Link Up

Step 1: Prepare Your Finish

  • Create a dedicated blog post or a Flickr photo for each project you want to showcase.
  • Each link must be unique—one URL per finish.

Step 2: Open the Linky Tool

  • In one browser window, open your finish post or Flickr image.
  • In a second window, go to the Finish Along page and click “Add Your Link.”

Step 3: Copy & Paste Your URL

  • Highlight the URL of your finish page and press Ctrl/Cmd + C.
  • Return to the Linky page and paste (Ctrl/Cmd + V) into the “Link” field.

Step 4: Add Your Details

  • The tool will auto-fill the title from your post—please add your name or blog name for easy tracking.
  • Enter your email address if it isn’t already pre-filled.

Step 5: Choose a Thumbnail

  • The Linky tool gathers all images on your linked page. Click the one you want to use.
  • Hit the “Crop” button to adjust your thumbnail.

Step 6: Crop & Confirm

  • Drag the square crop frame to highlight the part of the image you want.
  • Resize or move the box until you’re happy, then click “Done.”

Step 7: Finalize Your Entry

  • Review your link, title, email, and thumbnail.
  • Click “Done!” to submit. Repeat these steps for additional finishes.

Linking an Instagram Photo

  • If your blog post lacks a suitable image, select the Instagram option below the image chooser.
  • Authorize the tool to access your Instagram account.
  • Pick one of your Instagram photos and crop it as above.

That’s it! You’re all set to share your finishes with the group. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below.
